Norris E. Fredrickson age 85 of Zumbrota died on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at his home in Zumbrota. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Reverend Sarah Nietz officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Norris Everett Fredrickson was born on October 3, 1923 in Wanamingo Township, Goodhue County, MN to Nels and Emma (nee Satren) Fredrickson. He grew up in Wanamingo and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1941. Following high school, he entered the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1946. Following graduation from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, Norrie taught and coached at Chester High School in Iowa. On June 10, 1950 he married Arlene Zeller at Minneola Lutheran Church. After working for a short time for Boeing Airlines in Renton, WA, Norrie and Arlene moved to Zumbrota where he started his thirty two year career as a State Farm Insurance Agent. He retired in 1985. Norrie played baseball for Luther College and the Town Team in Mabel, MN. He played ball for the Blue Goose team until he was fifty years old. He also enjoyed playing golf, pitching horseshoes and camping. In later years he was an avid spectator of the many activities of his grandchildren. Norrie and Arlene wintered in Arizona for the past twenty three years, where he made many friends, biked and swam daily and played many games of cards. For years, Norrie was a regular at the early morning coffee group, and thoroughly enjoyed delivering vehicles for Grover Auto. He was a volunteer firefighter for twenty two years and a member of Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727. Norrie was an active, lifelong member of Minneola Lutheran Church, having served on most boards.

Norris is survived by his wife, Arlene; one sister, Minerva (Maynard) Aaker of Decorah, IA; his children, Nancy (Paul) Savre of Eagan, Mary (Dennis Meyer) Fredrickson of Ripon, WI, Robert (Becky) Fredrickson of Burnsville, Rebecca (Brian) Buck of Zumbrota and Susan (Tom) Bugliosi of Pewaukee, WI; eleven grandchildren, Jessica (Andy) Carney, Julie (Boris) Axelrod, Jenelle Savre, Nels, Betsy and Hans Fredrickson, Emily (Tim) Frank, Jennifer (Ben) Lindquist, Sara, Andrew and Nicholas Bugliosi; five step grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Shuba, Dana (Anthony) Pisculich, Kristen, Alex and Breanne Meyer; and eight great-grandchildren, Maya and Logan Carney, Samson and Hanon Axelrod, Carson Frank, Jackson Lindquist, Logan Shuba and Noah Pisculich. Norris was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond.

The family suggests memorials to Minneola Lutheran Church or Minneola Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
