Norma L. Reese, 94, of Zumbrota, formerly of Goodhue, died Thursday evening, February 1, 2007 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 5, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Erich Westphal officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Goodhue. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2007 from 1:00 ? 4:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Norma Leona Reese was born on December 6, 1912 in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, MN to John Joachim and Anna Margaretha Elizabeth (nee Albers) Reese. She was baptized at her parent?s home in Zumbrota Township on December 26, 1912 by Reverend Herman E. Meyer. Her sponsors were Katherina Reese and Peter Albers, her grandparents. Upon completion of study in the Christian faith she was confirmed on May 30, 1926 at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue, MN by Reverend Edwin Sauer. Her confirmation remembrance verses were John 16: 23 & 24. She grew up on the family farm and attended Grace Lutheran School in the 2nd through 7th grade. She attended public school district 111 in the country for grades 1 and 8. Norma went to high school one year in Goodhue. Norma resided with her parents in rural Zumbrota and then moved with them to Goodhue in 1954. In 1999 she moved to the Zumbrota Towers and resided there until July 2006 at which time she entered Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, card playing and visiting with relatives and friends. Norma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue from 1912-1999 and at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Norma is survived by nieces and nephews, Harlen (Vernetta) Pahl of Pine Island, Glennes (Sandra) Pahl, Virginia Pahl and Darren (Linda) Pahl, all of Zumbrota, great-nephews and nieces, great great-nephews and nieces, great great great-nephews and nieces and cousins. Norma was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, sister, Esther Pahl, brother, Walter Reese, and a nephew, Duane Pahl. The family suggests memorials to Christ Lutheran Church or Seasons Hospice.
