Norma Mae Hey, 80, Red Wing, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Fairview Seminary Home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was born May 11, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Miriam (Smith) Youngblut. She grew up in Waterloo, moving to Red Wing in the 1980's. She worked at the Salvation Army in Red Wing and loved helping others. She was an avid gardener, fisherman and cook. Norma had numerous chronic illnesses, but she never gave up her love of life.
Survived by five children: Cheryl Gustafson of Red Wing, Rhonda Willard of Spring Valley, Wis, Harry (Elisha) Gustafson of Rosemount, Monica (Kenny) Jackson and Wesley (Sheila) Gustafson, all of St. Paul; twelve grandchildren: Kelly Klund, Kimberly Tobritzhofer, Jayson and Jamie Scheffler, Jacob and Markita Gustafson, Mariha and Jazeya Jackson, Tyler, Tony and Trenton Gustafson and Jessica Peterson; twenty great-grandchildren; three brothers: Harold (Jean), Robert and Norris (Lollie) Youngblut, all of Waterloo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell "Buzz" Hey in 2004 and one daughter-in-law, Kimberly Gustafson.
Memorial service will be 4 p. m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Cheryl Szabo officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p. m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
