Norma Jean Budensiek

June 21, 1929 — December 16, 2016

Norma Jean Budensiek, age 87, of Pine Island, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Pine Haven Care Center surrounded by family and friends. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 21 at Pine Island United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M with Pastor Carolyn Westlake and Pastor Rick Ormsby co-officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20 from 4:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in Pine Island Cemetery.
Norma Jean Sievertsen was born on June 21, 1929 in Denison, IA to John and Leora (Krauel) Sievertsen. She grew up in Grand Meadow and was confirmed at Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and graduated from Grand Meadow High School. After high school Norma worked as a meat cutter in a grocery store and then in a dental office. Norma married Clayton Budensiek on December 14, 1952 in the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. After several years they settled in Pine Island where they raised their family on the farm. After the children were grown, Norma worked at Pine Haven Care Center and retired from Zumbrota Health Care as a cook. Norma was a very active member of the Pine Island United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and cleaned.
Norma enjoyed cooking, especially making caramels, fudge, tacos and angel food cake, having coffee with friends, dancing, writing poems, playing cards especially 500, and spending time with family. Norma loved her family with all her heart and she will be greatly missed.
Norma is survived by her children, Marsha (Paul) Gustine of Pine Island, Doug Budensiek of Brainerd and Daniel Budensiek of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Bradley Budensiek, Valerie (Joe) Swarthout and Stephanie (Rob) Troolin; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Tyler and Jackson.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; and her parents.
The family wishes to extended their gratitude and heartfelt "Thank You" to all the wonderful people at Pine Haven Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their care and support.
Memorials preferred to the Pine Island United Methodist Church, Pine Haven Care Center, and Heartland Hospice.
