OBITUARY: Norma Miller Blastervold

Funeral services for Norma Miller Blastervold will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating.
Casketbearers will be Richard Weber, Keith Burfeind, Steve Oelkers, Kenny Schumacher, Rodney Schumacher and Allan Schumacher. Burial will follow in the Zumbrota Cemetery.

Norma, age 90, of Zumbrota died on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester. She was born Norma Elberta Schumacher on July 28, 1917 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Lemmerman) Schumacher. She attended country school near Mazeppa and helped the neighbors. On September 10, 1935 she married Emil Miller in Mazeppa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed around the area before moving into Zumbrota. Norma worked at the Zumbrota Bakery and at the hospital in Zumbrota as a nurse's aide. Emil died on June 6, 1977 and Norma retired from the hospital and worked for DHIA as a tester. On December 29, 1979 she married Victor Blastervold in Mazeppa. They lived in Zumbrota where Norma was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa and the Spring Garden Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She enjoyed music, dancing, card playing and especially her grandchildren.

Norma is survived by her husband, Victor Blastervold of Zumbrota; two daughters: Yvonne (Dick) Myran of Zumbrota and Janice (Joe) Rude of Pine Island; one son, Jim Miller of Zumbrota; four step-children: Francis (George) Gusman of Pueblo, Mexico, Charles (Mary) Blastervold of Cannon Falls, Phyllis (Stephen) Dorsi and Joanne (Michael) Ulin, both of Arroyo Grande, California; ten grandchildren: Mike (Debbie) Myran, Scott (Patti) Myran, Neal (Connie) Myran, Bill Myran, Teresa (Doug) Carlson, Jodie (Brian) Thompson, Marissa (Phil) Tupper, Kristie (Jim) Larson, Kerry (Dan) Jones and Jamison (Becca) Miller; seven step-grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and one sister, Beulah Ahrens of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Emil Miller; five brothers, three sisters; and one step-grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2008, from 4-7 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
