Nordis Urness, 90, of Zumbrota, MN., passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing, MN. Funeral services will be held at Friday, December 19, 2008,
at 2 pm, at Lands Lutheran Church, Zumbrota, MN., with Pastor David Krinke officiating and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Nordis Marguerite Jacobson was born on February 26, 1918 in Roscoe Township, the daughter of Iver and Berit (Bertha) Rokke Jacobson. She was baptized and confirmed at Lands Lutheran Church, was married to Henry Urness in 1938 and became the mother of Harvey Norris, Curtis Burnell, and Robert Jerome Urness. Two children born to this union are Barbara Ann and Charles Irving Urness. Henry passed away November 29, 1989.
Memories that Nordis leaves for her family and friends is of a kind, caring, fun loving, neighbor that made the best lefse. She enjoyed being grandmother to her 13 grandchildren Rick Urness, Holly Wey, Linda Urness, Lyle Urness, Terry Smith, Todd Urness, Troy Urness, Tom Urness, Jim Urness, Nancy Dickinson, Bonnie Kingsley, Brad Emeline, and Eddie Maychrzak.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Barbara Maychrzak of Scranton, ND, sons Chuck Urness of Montevideo, MN, and Harvey Urness of Helena, MT., daughters-in-law Judy Urness of Cambridge, MN., and Shirlee Urness of Inver Grove Heights, MN., her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and cousins.
Wherever a beautiful soul has been....there is a trail of beautiful memories.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Iver and Bertha Jacobson; husband, Hank; two dear sons, Curt in 2003 and Bob in 2007, one beautiful granddaughter, Nora Jean Urness in 1958; one brother Edwin Jacobson, three sisters, Inga B. Hendrickson, Lillian E. Brown, and Melva C. Hinrichs; two nephews, Michael Randen Hendrickson and Jerald W.Brown, and all of her Jacobson and Urness in-laws.
