Norbert M. Tri, age 91 of Mazeppa died on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Joseph Keefe and Father Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #588 of Mazeppa and the Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2009 from 4:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Norbert Max Tri was born On October 6, 1917 in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota to George and Albertina (nee Perrotte) Tri. He grew up in rural Mazeppa and attended country school. He worked as a milk hauler and at the Mazeppa Creamery. He entered the U.S. Navy on October 15, 1942, served during WWII and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1946. On August 5, 1950 he married Bernice I. Schacht. They made their home in St. Paul and Norb worked for U.S. Roofing. In 1954 they moved to Mazeppa and he continued roofing with his brother George. He also had a greenhouse and floral business, drove school bus and worked at the power plant. In 1963 he started as the rural mail carrier and retired in 1977. Norb was a charter member of the American Legion Post #588, where he was a past commander of Post #588 and past vice commander of the 1st District American Legion. Norb was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans � St. Paul Chapter and the Mazeppa Lions. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and reading.
Norb is survived by his wife, Bernice; one daughter, Charlene (Quentin) Siems of Mazeppa, one son, Ricky Tri of Phoenix, AZ; one step-daughter, Pauline (Gary) Thompson of Stacy, MN; five grandchildren: Brock and Krista Siems, Jeremy, Brian and Dennis Tri; three step-grandchildren: Mark, Kelly and Jeff Thompson. Norb was preceded in death by his grandson, Mikal Tri; and two brothers: George and Edmund. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
