A memorial service for Norbert Reichrath will be held Tuesday March 8th at 2:00 PM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church with the Reverend Siri Strommen Campbell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Reichrath, 90, of Rochester, died Thursday March 3, 2011 at his home in Rochester.

Norbert Reichrath was born September 20, 1920 in Landau, Germany, the son of August and Philopena Reichrath. With his family, he emigrated to the United States at the age of three. A veteran of the US Army, he served as a medic in Germany during World War II. Returning home, he attended college and was a graduate of Indiana State University. He came to Rochester and worked in the assessor's office of Olmsted County, retiring in 1985. He has resided at Grammercy Park in Rochester for the past five years.

He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, the American Legion, VFW, and was a past president of the Widowed Persons' Service. He enjoyed camping with friends at Whitewater Park, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved dogs. Norbert is remembered for having started Rochester's first dog obedience school.

He is survived by a sister, Louise Reichrath of Rochester; and his best friend, Dorothy Hardtke, also of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Reichrath; his parents; and his other siblings.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
