Norbert Benjamin Fricke

Norbert "Norbie" Benjamin Fricke of Millville, passed away February 1, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Rochester, he was 80 years old.
Norbie was born in Wabasha County on May 18, 1933, to Henry Fricke and Norma (Giese) Fricke. He attended the Bremen one room country school from 1939 - 1947 and finished his education at Plainview High School, graduating in 1951. On May 28, 1954, he married Ardith Ione Prescher at the Elgin Trinity Lutheran Church.
Norbie and Ardith worked a large crop and dairy farm and raised 4 children in Bremen. Norbie was on the Bremen Country School Board and a member of the Bremen Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, canoe and picnic outings on the Zumbro River, and pontoon rides on Lake Zumbro. He looked forward to going on Sunday drives and partaking in the surrounding area festivals. He also had great times traveling to visit family in Oregon, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Norbie is survived by his special friend, Jodie Juhnke; four children, Dawn of Oregon, Gary of Iowa, Gayle of Minnesota, and David of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Jessie, Christine and Dustin; two great grandchildren, Emma and Ella; and one brother, Maurice "Bud" (Marilyn) Fricke, of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ardith, his parents, and his sister Marion Springer.
Special thanks goes to St Mary's Hospital, Mayo Hospice, the Golden Living Care Center, Wabasha County Health Services, and Jackie Schreiber from Semcil Health Services.
Also a special thanks to friends, Bill Getschmann, Dick Grobe, and Bruce Seifert for all the help given to Norbert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 am at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home and the burial will be at the Elgin Cemetery, following the service.
All arrangements are being handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home.
