Red Wing

Neil Kermit Kjos, 79, of Red Wing, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Crispin Care Center.  He was born on August 28, 1941 in Red Wing, the son of Kermit and Pearl (Robinson) Kjos.  He married Lois Schumacher at First Lutheran Church on February 9th 1963.  They had two sons.  When Neil was a young boy his mother would sprinkle flour on the kitchen table and Neil would make roads and play with his little cars.  In his teen years he would work on different farms and worked at Windy Acres.  Neil worked for Goodhue County Highway Dept. for over 35 years, where his father and grandfather worked.  Before he retired he told the others he was going to work at Walmart as a greeter and he did.  Neil loved hunting both deer and turkey, riding his horse, fishing, camping, old cars, stock car racing, gardening and country music.  He and Lois went on a few cruises and visited every state in the U.S. They also went to Europe twice, to Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.  Neil Liked to build things, he built three garages at the different homes they lived with the help of his father, and father-in-law.

Neil is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Christopher (Erin) and his special needs son Eric; three grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Lexvold; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ardis.

A private family service with Reverend Arthur Sharot will be held at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.  Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.  The family would like to thank St. Crispin and Hospice for their great care.  Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association
