Neal Ansgar Anderson, 70, of Red Wing, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born June 19, 1938 in Red Wing to Ansgar and Lillian (Olson) Anderson. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1956 and attended the University of Minnesota, where he studied electrical engineering. He worked for Red Wing Marine and Red Wing Shoe Company for several months before going to Central Research Laboratories, where he worked as a lead electrician, retiring in 1990. He also owned and operated Anderson Electronics from 1959 until present, where he designed and developed TV systems for commercial and residential use. He also taught seminars on design and development of TV distribution systems. He sang with the Red Wing Civic Male Chorus and was also with the Red Wing Madrigal Singers for many years. A member of United Lutheran Church, he was a past choir member. He also enjoyed travel, classical music, western movies and space travel.
He is survived by 2 nieces, Kim (John) Schutt of Hutchinson and Jean Anderson of Minneapolis; nephew Steven (Ellen) Anderson of Eau Claire, Wisc.; sister-in-law Mary Anderson of Hutchinson; close friends Vickie and Brad Berg and their children, of Red Wing,
and many cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Anderson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials preferred to United Lutheran Church music fund, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
