Naomi Florence Moon, age 85, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Thursday Feb. 2, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Communities Memory Care.
Naomi was born Feb. 15, 1931 on a farm in Zumbrota, MN to Louis and Florence (Lohmann) Borgschatz. She married Robert Moon on June 18, 1949 in Rochester. She worked as the bookkeeper at Clark's Home Fair in Rochester for many years before opening Moon's Hobby/Craft Shop with Bob in April of 1973. For thirty years, she greeted her employees and customers with her bright smile and friendly disposition. She enjoyed picnics with her kids, being an active member of Zumbro Lutheran Church, singing hymns, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Naomi played a central role in the lives of all her children and grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying being a light and comfort for them on their journey.
Survivors include her four children Nancy (Warren) Meyer; and Jim (Cindy) Moon, both of Rochester; Brenda Moon of Zumbrota; and Dennis (Robin) Moon of Grand Rapids, MN; twelve grandchildren Molly, Andy, Aaron, Laura, Mike, Rachel, Corrie, Lincoln, Adam, Josiah, Maya, and Matthew; and fourteen great grandchildren. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Bob who died in October of 1996, her parents, her four sisters, Norma, Donna Marie, Ruth, and Verna, and her grandson Zak.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with the Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner of Zumbro Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery at a later date.
