Nancy J. (Oftedahl) Kells

Nancy Jean Kells, 76, of Red Wing, died Friday October 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family after a 25 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born August 17, 1947 in Red Wing to Donald Oftedahl and Charlotte (Opem) Oftedahl. She grew up and attended school in Red Wing. Nancy married James Kells February 12, 1966. She stayed home to care for her family but also had previous employment at the St. James Hotel and K-Mart. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She enjoyed garage sales, thrift stores, going for drives, taking care of her grandchildren and playing board games with them. Her family will never forget her love of baking, music – especially The Beatles and Elvis, and reading books.

She is survived by her husband James; three children, David (Mary), Dale (Chris), and Andrea Kells all of Red Wing; grandchildren Lucas, Logan, Ava and Austin; sisters, Elaine Bartz of Hastings, MN and Janet Vieths of Lake City, MN and many nieces and nephews. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
