Myrtel J. Hoseth, age 87, of Zumbrota, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Zumbrota Health Services. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Wanamingo. Visitation will be on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Myrtel Johanna Olson was born on December 22, 1923 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to Peder and Olina (nee Johnson) Olson. She grew up in rural Wanamingo, attended country school and graduated from Wanamingo High School. On September 5, 1942 she married Lloyd A. Hoseth at Lands Lutheran Church Parsonage. They made their home in Cherry Grove Township. After Lloyd returned from his military service in World War II, they farmed in Cherry Grove Township for several years. Myrtel worked as a nurse's assistant for twenty-nine years at the Zumbrota Nursing Home, retiring in 1993. Myrtel was a member of Lands Lutheran Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, bird watching, the Minnesota Twins and baking, especially her chocolate chip cookies.
Myrtel is survived by her son, Mike (Linda) Hoseth of Liberty, MO; daughters, Louise (Bob) Tittrington and Julie Quast, both of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Chere' Bergum, Jamie Hoseth, Michelle Cook, Brian Hoseth, Jim (Tara) Tittrington, Kelly Nygaard, Jason Tittrington, Sara (Tom) Nielsen, Peter Quast and Jessie Quast; eleven great-grandchildren, Celeste Bergum, Tyler Tittrington, Olivia Hoseth, Drew Nielsen, Ethan Coo, Lucas Cook, Alex Tittrington, Chayse Miller, Colte Miller, Claire Nielsen and Marshall Nielsen.
Myrtel was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; daughters, Susan and Rebecca; three brothers, Palmer, Selmer and Melroy Olson; and sister, Odella Orsten.
The family prefers memorials to Lands Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel.
