Myron Neil Whipple, 73, Red Wing, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 22, 1938 in Minneola Township, the son of Harry B. and Lillian (Groth) Whipple. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1956 and married Ruth Ann Hamilton on December 20, 1956. They lived in the Red Wing area and he worked at Verblas Cement Company. He then began working at Meyer Industries in 1965, retiring as a Mill Wright in May of 2002. Myron greatly enjoyed hunting, especially raccoon; gardening, raising trees, horseback riding and raising horses, searching for ginseng roots and morel mushrooms, woodworking, gunsmithing, fishing, canoeing, hiking, shooting and reading anything he could get his hands on. He and Ruth also enjoyed going to auctions together.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann of Red Wing; his children: Mona (Doug) Liebswager of Hudson, WI, Marvin (Candy) Whipple of Red Wing, Lori Whipple and Jay Whipple both of Burnsville and Mike (Nicole) Whipple of Star Prairie, WI; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol and Gail and two brothers, Jerry and Duane. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark, one grandson, Dillon, one sister, Audrey; one brother, Clair and one infant sister.
A private graveside service will be held at Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 5 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
