Myrna Evelyn Liffrig, 95, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at her home in Lake City. She was born at home in Mazeppa on July 15, 1926, to Otto and Mary (Heitman) Koenig. She attended rural school near Mazeppa. On September 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clifford Liffrig at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Shortly after they were married, Myrna owned and operated a restaurant in Mazeppa. She worked at various cafes in Mazeppa, Treasure Island Resort and Casino, and for the B.W. Harris Coat Factory in Lake City for 23 years. She was strong in her faith and loved church. She was a longtime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, serving as president of the Altar Society and being a member of the altar guild. She was an avid reader and was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins. She loved gardening, canning, going out to eat, playing cards, bowling, and traveling with her sisters. She loved to share stories about their traveling adventures. She was a member of the Lake City Bowling Hall of Fame.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford in 2004; brothers, Donald King and Harold Koenig; and sisters, Irene, Lola, and Betty.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father John Sauer presiding. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Burial will be at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Mazeppa.
