Myra Marie Markham

Myra M. Markham, 85, of Pine Island, formerly of Oronoco, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester following complications from diabetes and heart disease. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco with Reverend Paul Baldauf officiating. Interment will be in Oronoco Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30-4:30 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Myra Marie Mohlke was born on April 22, 1922 in Oronoco Township, Olmsted County to George and Mary (Tiedeman) Mohlke. She attended Coon Grove School and grew up in Oronoco. On November 21, 1946, she married Leonard "Peck" Markham at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, where the couple made their home. Peck died March 5, 2007. Myra and her husband owned and operated L.C. Markham Trucking for 30 years. She was a homemaker, raising two children, Jane and Ron. She also worked at the library for Pine Island Public Schools and the Oronoco Community Center. Myra was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid for many years, and enjoyed the Oronoco Senior Citizens Group. She had a love for dancing, listening to hymns, and laughter. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Myra will be remembered for her graciousness, strength and unconditional love to all.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Dick) Walker of Oronoco; a son, Ron (Joanne) Markham of Rochester; four grandchildren, Dan (Darcie) Walker of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Joleen (Justin) Predmore of Pine Island, Nikki Markham of Roseville, Minnesota and Stacy Markham of Rochester; three great-grandchildren, Cade and Shaelyn Predmore of Pine Island and MacKenzie Walker of Oak Creek; and one brother, Harold (Joanne) Mohlke of Oronoco. Myra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Peck; a grandson, David Markham; four brothers, George, Martin, Harvey, Ervin Mohlke and one infant sister, Lois Mohlke.

Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel, Pine Island.
