Murriel E. Puttbrese

Murriel Elizabeth Puttbrese, 79, Red Wing, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at her residence. She was born November 4, 1931 in Durand, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leonard and Orpha (Robertson) Mitchell. She grew up in Downsville, WI. The family moved to Durand where she graduated high school. She married Russell Puttbrese in LaCrosse, WI on December 13, 1947 and they lived in Wabasha and then Red Wing. She was employed at Red Wing Shoe, retiring in 1996. She raised Arabian horses and was a member of the Hay Creek Valley Saddle Club.

Survivors include her children: Diane (Gary) Taxdahl of Amery, WI, Leland Puttbrese of Red Wing; Jean (Mel) Colgrove of Dillon, MT and Debbie (Kevin) Sjoquist of Red Wing; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; one daughter, Mary Beth Puttbrese; her parents and two brothers, Leon and Robert Mitchell.

A private burial service was held at Oakwood Cemetery.
