Morris Norman Platte, age 68, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 13, 1942 in St. Paul to Dorothy (Platte) Anderson. He grew up in Lake City and graduated in 1960. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and was in the 544th Ordinance Company serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On April 11, 1964 he married Judith Haessig at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Morris worked at Federal Mogul for almost 47 years, most recently as the night shift supervisor in the piston shop. He also owned and operated his own dump truck for many years, hauling sand, gravel, and dirt. In 1996 he bought the orchard and ran the Apple House. He retired from Federal Mogul in December 2007. For the past 10 years he also managed the bar at the American Legion Post #110. Morris was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Frontenac Sportsman Club, Lake City Sportsman Club, MN Apple Grower Association, and the Galley Tech coffee club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and staying busy.

He is survived by his wife, Judith of Lake City; sons, Kristofer (Lynn) of Lake City, Matthew (Julie) of Waseca and Craig (Janet) of Lake City; eight grandchildren; 3 great granddaughters; mother, Dorothy Anderson of Lake City; sisters, Diane (Dave) Hardy of Goodhue and Carla (Chuck) Pelowski of Lake City; brother, Mark (Tammy) Anderson of Lake City; 5 nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 2p.m. Monday, September 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #110. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 25 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Wabasha Hospice, or Donor's choice.
