Morris G Meincke

Morris G. Meincke age 85 of Lake City passed away Sunday, August 4th, 2013 at his home.
Morris was born November 6, 1927 in Mt Pleasant Twp. in Wabasha County to John & Geraldine (Meyer) Meincke. Morris grew up on the family farm in Mt. Pleasant Twp and attended school in Goodhue and Lake City. Morris married Arlis Thomforde September 21, 1949 at St. Peter's Church Belvidere. They lived and farmed in Mt. Pleasant Twp until retiring and moving to Lake City in 1986.
Morris was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City and served on the church council & St. John's School Board. He also served on the St. John's Cemetery Board for over 25 years. Morris also served on the Land O Lakes board & Oak Center Creamery Board, Wabasha County ASC and Wabasha County Board of Adjustments. He was a charter member of the Lake City Lions Club.
After retiring from farming Morris was a school bus driver for 19 years and he worked at Bushel & Peck, Flower Cottage and Ace Rental. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and a game of Euchre with his friends & relatives.
Morris is survived by his wife Arlis, two daughters, Joanne Beltz of Lake City, LaVonne Schmidt of Lake City, a son Ronald (Julie) Meincke of Lake City; seven grandchildren, Tracy Beltz, Derrick (Mandy) Beltz, Michael (Cassandra) Beltz, Holly Schmidt, Kelly Schmidt, Brandon Meincke, Ethan Meincke and five great grandchildren, McKenna Beltz, Macey Beltz, Stella Beltz, Zoey Beltz, Irelyn Hazelton; a brother Richard (Lois) Meincke of Lake City; brother in-law, Roger Heise of Goodhue. Morris was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Meincke; a sister, Katherine Lutjen.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
