Milton N. Possehl

Milton N. Possehl, 87, of Lake City, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, at the Lake City Nursing Home Mayo Health System. He was born July 26, 1923 in Red Wing to John and Helen (Plote) Possehl. Milton attended school at District 21 just south of the farm until 8th grade. He joined the Minnesota National Guard in 1944. He married Elaine Von Helmst on June 4, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. They farmed in Hay Creek Township in Goodhue County until 2007 when he moved to the Lake City Nursing Home. Milton was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence. Elaine passed away April 4, 2010. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and International Tractors. He loved spending time with his family and working side-by-side with his wife on the farm.
Milton is survived by his two sons, Kevin Possehl of Lake City and Steve Possehl of Goodhue; two daughters, Judy (Don) Siewert of Frontenac and Denise (Rick) Landau of Old Frontenac; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and two sisters, Elizabeth Fitschen and Natalie Kohn of Red Wing. He is preceded in death by his wife Elaine and an infant sister Erma Possehl.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence with Reverend Lorren Lucht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson-Mahn Chapel, Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
