Milton Drew Alger Sr. of Red Wing, Minnesota, passed away quietly on Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born on May 5, 1933 in Spotted Horse, Wyoming. He graduated from Sheridan High School of Sheridan, Wyoming in May of 1952. He married the love of his life, Irene Kay Yetter from Billings, Montana on December 15, 1954 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The couple was married for 55 years last December and have two children, Milton Drew Alger Jr. and Alvin Clark Alger. Milton was a meat cutter for 25 plus years and had a tree trimming business for another 15 plus years. He also worked at the St. James Hotel as part of their maintenance department and he finally retired as a customer service representative in the spring of 2006. He was a devoted husband and father for all of his adult life. He served in various capacities in his church, most notably as a Branch President two separate times, once in Deadwood, South Dakota and in Red Wing, Minnesota. He also served as the manager of the Bishop's Storehouse in Apple Valley, Minnesota and a temple worker in the Chicago, Illinois and St. Paul, Minnesota Temple's for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Alger of Red Wing; sons and their wives, Milton (Susan) Alger of Austin, Texas, and Alvin "Al" (Karen) Alger of Waite Park, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matthew) Montgomery, Rachel, Anna, Alta, Eden, Ben, Joshua (Abby), Lindsey, and Kelsey Alger and a sister, Evelyn Alice Bulkley of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew Alvon Alger and Anna Isabel Auld; sister, Arlene Ida Bishop, and brother, Robert Alger.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Erik Gram presiding. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
