Millard LeRoy Lind, 86, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born on December 29, 1923, in Pierce County, Wisconsin to Henry and Freda (Nordstrom) Lind. He attended schools in Pierce County and then served in the US Army during World War II from December 21, 1944 to November 26, 1946. On July 6, 1948 he married Florence Steiner. They lived in Red Wing where he worked 18 years at the Red Wing Pottery and then for 23 years at SB Foot Tannery retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, making many trips to Colorado and going to McDonalds to meet and visit with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; one son, Stephen (Janice) Lind of Oakdale, Minn.; two grandchildren, Matt Odenbreit and Jillene (John) Saumweber; one great granddaughter, Julia Saumweber; one sister, Florence Bergstrom of Red Wing and three brother-in-laws, Walter (Lorraine) Steiner of Rice Lake, Wis., Howard Steiner of Canon City, Colorado and James (Nancy ) Sands of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Chaplain Dar Reeck officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Rolland Nadeau and John Hart. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
