Mildred Marie Strusz, 93, of Red Wing, formerly of Goodhue, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born May 15, 1918 in Goodhue Township to William and Johanna (Rehder) Voth. She grew up in Goodhue and attended school in rural Goodhue. She was confirmed on May 22, 1932 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. On September 21, 1939 she married Walter Strusz. They farmed near Goodhue until 1963 when they moved to Goodhue and in 2000 they moved to Red Wing. Walter died January 12, 2004. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Goodhue and enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and playing cards.
Mildred is survived by three children, Delores (Robert) Schrimpf of Lake City, Curtis (Marie) of Goodhue and Gary (Angie) of Red Wing; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sister, Helen Dammann; brother, Marvin Voth and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Goodhue, with Reverend Andrew Krause officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dean Schrimpf, Todd, Lee, Eric, Jared and Jack Strusz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nancy McCormick, Molly Strusz and Nicole Anderson. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
