Mildred L. Berg age 98 of Zumbrota died today, Tuesday, July 06, 2010 at the Zumbrota Health Services. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Susan Vikstrom officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 9, 2010 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mildred Lucille Raasch was born on March 26, 1912 in Zumbrota, MN to Henry E. and Cassie J. (nee Hodsdon) Raasch. She grew up in Zumbrota and attended Zumbrota Schools. Mildred started working as a waitress. On June 15, 1932 she married Clarence Post. They made their home in Zumbrota and Clarence died on April 24, 1951. Mildred worked at various stores in downtown Zumbrota. On November 29, 1957 she married Leonard Berg. They made their home in Zumbrota and Mildred worked at the bakery and several businesses in town until retiring in the mid-1970's. Leonard died on January 31, 1995. She enjoyed playing bingo, needle point, bowling, traveling, music, dancing and was a MN Twins fan. Mildred was a member of Zumbrota Hospital Auxiliary, United Redeemer Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. She volunteered as a pink lady at the hospital and the Zumbrota Nursing Home. Mildred is survived by her children, Joan Inbody of Fort Dodge, IA, Ronald Post of Rochester, Darrel "Babe" (Jane) Post of Rochester, Sharon Logan of Miami, FL and Nancy (Tom) Fee of Zumbrota; six grandchildren, Jonice (Rocky) King, Cheryl (Tim) Mathre, Sandra (John) Bucher, Jon (Cristina) Lee and Jason Weis; seven great-grandchildren, Adam (McKenzi) King, Tiffany (Nate) Ryan, Joshua Mathre, Paige and Megan Bucher, Lilla and Mahdis Lee; one great-great-granddaughter, Bella Ryan. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cassie; her husbands, Clarence Post and Leonard Berg; one granddaughter, Brenda Post Miller; two sisters, Mabelle Phillips and Myrtle Shaima and one brother, Gernard "Honey" Raasch. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers. The family suggests memorials to United Redeemer Lutheran Church or Relay for Life.
