Mildred "Millie" (Johnson) Huddleston

Mildred "Millie" E. Johnson Huddleston, 84, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Fairview Seminary Home. She was born February 13, 1927 in Tyler, Minnesota to Thomas and Thora (Nielsen) Christensen. As a young child, her family moved to Red Wing, where she grew up and attended school. In 1945 she married Orville Johnson and they made their home on Spring Creek Road. Millie had worked at several retail shops in Red Wing and had been a successful Avon Lady for over 20 years. Orville died in 1995 and in 1996 she married Thomas Huddleston. Together, they enjoyed traveling and attending Jazz Festivals. Thomas died in 1999. In her younger years, Millie had enjoyed doing crafts, bowling, gardening and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed being with her family and visiting her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by five children, James Johnson of India, Cheryl (Ken) Roufs of Red Wing, Thomas (Laura) Johnson of Houston, Texas, Pamela (Dave) Trulin and Bruce (Bonnie) Johnson both of Red Wing; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 2 sisters, AneMae (Jerry) Novek of Red Wing and Elaine Bakalar of Minneapolis and several step-children and step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Mary Christensen of Red Wing and Marcella Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Pauly Christensen; her husbands, Orville and Thomas; special friend, Kenny Bolland and a brother, Leon Christensen.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Trulin, Michael Westerberg, Callie Valtakis, Tara Krier, Nadine Johnson and Alan Novek. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Faith in Action.
