Mildred "Millie" Thelma Erlanson, age 88 of rural Cannon Falls, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Wanamingo Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mildred Thelma Hommedahl was born on May 23, 1928 at home in Leon Township to Melvin and Pearl (Lund) Hommedahl. Millie graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1947 and attended Rochester Junior College before starting her career as an Electroencephalogram Technician for Mayo Clinic in the 1950s. Millie married Llewellyn Erlanson on August 24, 1957 at Wanamingo Lutheran Church. Together they moved to Babbitt, MN where Llewellyn worked for Reserve Mining Company, and they started their family. They moved to the family farm outside of Cannon Falls in 1959, where they farmed together ever since. Millie taught Sunday school for many years, was very active in the church, was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Association of Retarded Citizens of Minnesota.
Millie enjoyed being a homemaker and giving special attention to her family. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, spending time with family, reading and traveling,
Millie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Llewellyn; three daughters, Lou Ann Erlanson, Laureen Otto, and Valerie (Kirk) Lovsness; two grandchildren, Andrew and Molly Lovsness; sister, Lorraine (Timothy) Timm; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; sister-in-law, Melorie Ekstrom; and brother-in-law, Harvey (Bonnie) Erlanson.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, infant Eunice and Carmen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Wanamingo Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
