Mick Bohmbach

February 16, 1947 — March 15, 2015

Michael "Mick" Bohmbach, age 68, died, Sunday, March 15, 2015, from metastatic melanoma. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mick always had a sparkle in his eye and a laugh to share as well as a hug for everyone. He had a generosity of spirit and caring for all. His unbounding love for his two children and five grandchildren came first; his love of fishing in the northwoods of Wisconsin and Canada came second.
Mick is a Red Wing High School graduate and sports legend. He still carries the boys' basketball record for most points scored in a single game, even more impressive because there was no three point line and he was taken out after the third quarter of that game. Mick excelled at football, basketball, and baseball while a Winger and later in life at softball and volleyball.
Mick was also well known for his talent at emceeing all sorts of programs and celebrations. His gift for making people laugh touched many. He enjoyed life to the fullest with boundless energy and optimism.
Mick was born on February 16, 1947 in Red Wing to Alfred and Beatrice ("Beattie") Bohmbach. He graduated from Central High School in Red Wing in 1965 and attended the University of South Dakota and Mankato State University. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia (Ives) in 1968. Through the years he served in management positions with Durkee Atwood/Pirelli, Ralston Purina/Protein Technologies International, Heat n Glo, and most recently the Outdoor Great Room Company in Hager City.
Mick is survived by his wife Patt; two children, Megan (Jeff) Ruble of St. Peter and Nate (Ashley) Bohmbach of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Breeley, Piper, and Lyric Ruble and Breckin and Lydia Bohmbach; one sister, Bonnie (Dick) Oelkers of Crystal Lake, IL; as well as nieces and nephews.
In heaven Mick plans to open a little bait and tackle store for the heavenly hosts and do a lot of fishing.
