Michelle Lynn (White) Thompson

Michelle Lynn Thompson, “Wakinyan Ska Win”, 39, of the Prairie Island Indian Community, died Monday, January 31, 2022. She was born July 28, 1982 in Red Wing to Virgle and Mary (White) Morgan. She attended school in Red Wing until she moved to Utah. She finished high school in St. George, Utah and then went on to Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. Following a severe car accident, Michelle returned to Prairie Island to rehabilitate. She loved being a mother to her two children, Virgle James and Mary Morgan Thompson. She enjoyed spending time with her large extended family and will be remembered for her desire to make those around her happy.

She is survived by her children, Virgle and Mary Thompson; step-children, James, Jace, and Justice; siblings, Coleen (Ed) Callery of Florida, Verlie Dow-White of Prairie Island and David White of Prairie Island, as well as half siblings; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Noah and Blanche White.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022 at Treasure Island’s Paradise Cove. Visitation will start at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 and continue until the time of the service on Friday. Masks are required. Burial will be at the Prairie Island Community Cemetery.
