Michael "M." Nibbe, 45, a life-long resident of Red Wing, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 14, 2011, after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He was born October 18, 1965 in Red Wing, the son of Marvin and Francell (Kolberg) Nibbe. Throughout his high school years he was an active sports enthusiast, always excelling in every sport in which he participated. He was a 1984 graduate of Red Wing High School and went on to further his education in Arena Management. He began his career with the City of Farmington Parks and Recreation where he was a devoted and loyal employee for 25 years. He married the love of his life, Tanya Smith on September 22, 1990. They were blessed with their first born son, Aaron in 1994. As they looked forward to the growth of their family they purchased their dream home on December 1, 1994. They welcomed their very spirited child, Natasha, in 1998. Following, in the year 2003, Ian was prematurely brought into their lives. Mike was an avid softball player on several local and traveling teams with his closest friends. He also coached Little League and high school baseball for his sons' teams. Mike was a very devoted husband, father, uncle and friend who always ensured the needs of his family were met.

Survivors include his wife, Tanya; his children: Aaron, Natasha and Ian; his parents: Marvin and Francell Nibbe; siblings: Dirk (Anne), Todd, Carrie Peterson, Brock (Lynn) and Kelly Nibbe; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Herbert and Myrna Kolberg and paternal grandparents: Harry and Bessie Nibbe.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Hinsch, Brian Bohmbach, Joe Balzer, Dewey Christianson, Dave Lynch and Dewey Roschen. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
