Michael J. "Mike" Murphy, 48, of Kasson, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel with the Reverend Bruce Buller officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Michael James Murphy was born November 10, 1958 in Rochester to James and Janice (Stensrud) Murphy. He grew up in Rochester and attended Mayo High School. In 1989, Mike married Kimberley Mc Gurren. They divorced in 1997. Mike received an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design from Dakota County Technical College in the early 1990's. He worked for Alvin E. Benike Construction Inc. and most recently for Wood Assemblers in Pine Island. Mike loved fishing, hunting and fixing anything.
Mike is survived by three daughters, Kaitlin Murphy, Kelsey Murphy and Meggan Murphy all of Kasson; his mother, Janice Murphy of Rochester; two sisters, Cindy Murphy of Rochester and Pam Murphy of Mantorville; a brother, Kevin Stensrud of Lakeville, MN and a special friend, Irene Zenz of Kasson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel.
