Michael Joseph Knopp, 92, of Red Wing, died Saturday, November 28, 2020, at St. Crispin Living Community. He was born on April 7, 1928, in Winona, Minnesota to Paul and Agnes (Masyga) Knopp. He graduated from high school and then enlisted in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On September 12, 1959, he was united in marriage to Margot Menger. In 1967 they moved to Red Wing where he was vice president and part owner of the Red Wing Malting Company. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and the Burnson Lillyblad VFW Post #1218.
Michael is survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Gary) Nold of New Prague, MN; son, Michael F. Knopp of West Yellowstone, MT; step-daughter, Elaine (Ray) Haydock of Twin Lakes, WI.; two grandchildren, Adam and April Haydock and two siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife; Margot; parents and his brothers and sisters.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Burnside Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
