Michael "Jim" Kloster

Michael "Jim" James Kloster, 77, of Welch, died Thursday, July 2, 2020 at his home. He was born November 1, 1942 to Michael R. and Margaret (Hamm) Kloster in Miles City, Montana. He grew up in Montana and graduated from Scobey High School in 1960. He then spent a year at St. John's University before going into banking with his father. His work would take him to Minnesota where he worked with banks in southwestern Minnesota as well as southwestern Wisconsin, including Hager City, Bay City and Maiden Rock. In 1985 he married Judy Schultz in Red Wing. Together, they made their home in Red Wing. Jim was an active member of the Red Wing Elks, BPOE #845 and served as a past president on the state level. He was a personable guy, who made friends with everyone. It was said Jim was the only person at the state convention that didn't need a name tag. His work with the Elks kept him busy and he enjoyed working with the summer youth camp. He enjoyed traveling, the occasional trip to Vegas and watching old Westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children from a previous marriage, Teri Shepherd, Stephanie Ienn and Michael Kloster; Judy's three children, Michael Jackson, Wade Jackson and Cheryl Jackson; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2020 at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the service. Social distancing and masks are encouraged. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Elks Youth Camp. Online condolences maybe left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
