Michael W. Jones

Michael Wayne Jones, 73, of Goodhue, died peacefully on Sunday December 15, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 7, 1951, in Keosauqua, Iowa to Hubert and Hazel (Ewing) Jones. He graduated from Fairfield High School. On February 26, 1972, he was united in marriage to Melinda Pomeroy. For several years he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and then retired after 28 years at SB Foot Tannery in Red Wing. He and Melinda lived in Holmen, WI, before moving to Red Wing and for the past five years they have resided in Goodhue. Mike was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association and Bearing Burners Car Club in Red Wing. He enjoyed old cars, car racing, gardening and canning, but most of all, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Melinda; three daughters, Michelle (Ken) Vanberg, Darby Horstmann and Kerri (Kyle) Klinski; nine grandchildren, Cassandra, Gabrielle, Kelsey, Max, Noah, Nicholas, Austin, Aiden and Ava; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Pat) Jones; many nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Beckie Jones and one brother-in-law, Larry Miksch. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol Miksch and Sharon Ewing; one brother, Richard and one sister-in-law, Joyce Jones.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 in Red Wing.  Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.
