Michael D. Butler
Michael Douglas Butler, 50, of Red Wing, died Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Lake City Medical Center.
He was born October 3, 1959 in Germany. He was adopted by Doug and Shirley (Wangen) Butler. After returning to the United States Michael attended school at the Vasa Children's Home. Michael was a part of the Opportunity Services Day Program for 26 years. Michael always had a smile on his face and enjoyed many different things including, dancing, country and Elvis music, riding his bicycle, cars, and watching the Vikings and Twins.
Michael is survived by his mother, Shirley Wangen of Red Wing; Father, Doug (Margie) Butler of Pepin, WI, siblings, Mitchell of Red Wing, Barbara (Nate) Schlichting of Goodhue, Brian of Monticello, Bradley of Red Wing, Mark of Eau Clair, WI; aunts and uncles, Elaine (Robert) Serres of Red Wing, Janice French of Red Wing, Lois Dahling of Red Wing, Pat (Mona) Butler of Red Wing, Carolyn (Lee) Ackerman of Cambridge; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his REM family; and special friend, Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and two uncles.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 with Lynne Rigg officiating at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will take place at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
