Mervin (Mick) Auchampach, age 90, of Red Wing formerly of Ellsworth died January 20, 2011 at Red Wing Health Center. He was born on May 15, 1920 in River Falls to Lender and Alice (Best) Auchampach. He attended school in River Falls. Mervin married Inez Bernice Gutting on February 3, 1944 in Hastings. They lived in Ellsworth for many years. He worked at the Co-op Creamery in Ellsworth for 38 years, retiring in 1982. In 1984 they moved to Red Wing. Inez died September 15, 1998. He married Elvira Hardy on January 2, 2000. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and watching baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira; three sons, Robert (Elaine) Auchampach of River Falls, William (Janet) Auchampach of Red Wing, Richard (Jewell-lee) Auchampach of Prescott; one daughter, Nancy (Steve) Carroll of Red Wing; 20 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren; former son-in-law, Roger Spencer of Lindstrom, MN; two step-sons, Kevin Brock and Scott Brock both of Bay City.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Inez; daughter, Marlene Spencer, April 8, 2008; an infant son, David; six brothers and two sisters.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Tuesday January 25, 2011 at Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott and Jason Spencer, Tom Carroll, David and Christian Auchampach, Andrew Shaleen.
