Melvin William Gosse

A visitation for Melvin Gosse will be held on Saturday May 12th beginning at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 92 of Rochester will immediately follow. Mr. Gosse, 72, of Rochester, went to rest on Tuesday May 8, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Melvin William Gosse was born December 19, 1939 in Wabasha, the son of Anthony and Frances Gosse. Raised in Wabasha, he attended the public schools there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 to 1962, and then continuing in the reserves until 1991. He was united in marriage to Barbara Deming on April 16, 1966, and they were married for 27 years. Mr. Gosse worked for 16 years at IBM, and most recently had worked at Mayo Clinic. He has resided in Rochester since the mid-1990s.
A memberof the American Legion in Kellogg, he was a past commander of that post. He was also a member of the Kellogg VFW.
He issurvived by his son, Keith (Sharon) Gosse, of Chicago, Illinois; three daughters, Deanna (Mark) Schnell of Rochester, Danielle Baker of Wabasha,and Nicole Gosse of Tampa, Florida; eight grandchildren, Heather, Rebecca, Austin, Nicholas, Lauren, Morgan, Gavin, and Landon; two great-grandchildren,Rilynn, and Mackenzie; a brother, Rich (Carol) Gosse of Rochester; and two sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Schlundt of Minneapolis, and Gloria (Roger) Meurer of Wabasha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane, and Lyle; and two sisters, Kathryn, and Rose.
A Celebrationof Life will follow at the American Legion in Rochester from 5-7 PM.
