Melva Kohrs, age 89, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2012 at her home.
Melva was born May 10, 1923 in Zumbro Falls to Forest and Lorena Atkinson and raised in the Bear Valley area. She married William Kohrs June 14, 1944 at Bear Valley Lutheran Church rural Mazeppa. They farmed in Gillford Township from 1944 to 1971. They moved to Lake City in 1971. William passed away May 15, 2001. Melva was a member of the Lincoln Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was involved in the Ladies Aid, Rose Club, and volunteered at the Lake City Nursing Home, and served on the Great River Home's Board. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening and her truest passion was her family.
Melva is survived by 3 daughters, Gere (David) New of Australia, Cheryl Kohrs of Lake City, Donna (Steve) Harrison Maple Grove, MN; 2 sons, James (Hea Sun) of Long Beach, CA, Dale (Sharleen) of Lake City; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; sister, Myrtle Cliff; and great-grandchild Gavin.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Learman officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Memorials preferred to Hospice or Cancer Society.
