Melva E. Hinrichs

Melva E. Hinrichs, age 97, of Zumbrota died on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Zumbrota Health Services. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota with Father Bruce Peterson and Deacon Paul Tschann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Melva Elizabeth Hoksch was born on May 12, 1913 in Alma, WI to Frank and Elizabeth A. (nee Averbeck) Hoksch. She spent her early years in Alma and in the early 1920's her family moved to rural Zumbrota. Melva attended country school and on September 19, 1934 she married Ervin F. Hinrichs in Pine Island. Following their marriage, the couple lived on the farm in Zumbrota Township and in 1981, they retired from farming and moved into Zumbrota. In 2006 Melva moved into the Bridges Apartments in Zumbrota. Melva enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and cooking, sewing and needlework, reading, playing cards and ceramics. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. Melva is survived by her children, Duane (Jane) Hinrichs of Zumbrota, Sharon (Allan) Huppert of Ellsworth, WI and David (Sharon Kay) Hinrichs of Inver Grove Heights; nine grandchildren, Mark (Sue) Hinrichs, Deborah (Preston Aldrich) Hinrichs, Diane (Tom) Kelbel, Kathy (Gary) Deiss, Kim (Phil) Deiss, Peggy (Henry) Marson, Patti (Steve) Kelly, Laura (Michael) Lindemann, Matthew Hinrichs and friend Erin; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Melva was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, grandson, Michael and two brothers, Harlan and Laverne Hoksch.
