Melva C. Hinrichs

Melva C. Hinrichs age 80 of Zumbrota died on Saturday morning, March 29, 2008 at the Zumbrota Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Burial will be in Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Melva Charlotte Jacobson was born on October 14, 1927 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to Iver and Beret (nee Rokkee) Jacobson. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Zumbrota High School. On September 24, 1946 she married Herbert L. Hinrichs at the Christ Lutheran Church parsonage in Zumbrota. They made their home in Zumbrota and Melva worked for Klug Pharmacy, was a partner and did bookkeeping for Herb's Cartage and was a milk tester for DHIA in Zumbrota for many years. Melva was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Stary - Yerka VFW Post #5727 Auxiliary. Melva enjoyed rosemaling, quilting, knitting personalized Christmas stockings, bowling, fishing and spending time at their cabin and playing cards. Melva and Herb opened the doors of their home to anyone who needed a cup of coffee, someone to chat with or to play a game of cribbage. Melva is survived by her sister, Nordis Urness of Zumbrota and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, foster son, Mickey Hendrickson, brother, Edwin Jacobson and sisters, Lillian Brown and Inga Hendrickson. The family suggests memorials to donor's choice. Casketbearers are Mark Brown, Brad Emeline, Wayne Friedrich, Christ Friedrich, Chuck Urness and Clyde Hinrichs.
