Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Maurine Gilbert, 24, of Red Wing, died Tuesday at her home. She was born on June 1, 1982, in Torrance, California to Larry and Shelley (Coast) Gilbert. She attended schools in Torrance and at the age of 12 her family moved to Red Wing where she attended Twin Bluff Middle School and graduated from Red Wing High School in 2000. She worked as a Special Ed aid for the Red Wing Schools. She enjoyed being with family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Olivia; parents, Larry and Shelley Gilbert of Red Wing; paternal grandmother, Betty Gilbert of Idaho; aunts and uncles, Crystal and Paul Olson of Red Wing, Rocky Coast of California, Kathy (Dennis) Spiker of Idaho, Ron of California and several cousins, including Meredith and Ingrid Olson of Red Wing. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Covenant Church in Red Wing with Rev. Richard Theilen officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorial are preferred to Olivia Gilbert Fund at Associated Bank in Red Wing. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
