OBITUARY: May M. Whipple
Funeral services for May M. Whipple will be at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Marla Tupper, organist and Dawn Whipple, soloist, will provide the music. Casketbearers will be Tron Compton-Engle, Myron Engle, Tony Whipple, Michael Whipple, John Pereda and Kenneth Tiedemann. Burial will follow in the Oronoco Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Hour, Radio Bible Class or the American Bible Society.
May, age 87, of Faribault and formerly Mazeppa, died on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault. She was born May Marjorie Koenig, on May 26, 1920 to August and Meta (Ihrke) Koenig in Oronoco Township, Olmsted County. She attended country school and on August 30, 1939 she married Amos Whipple in Oronoco. Following their marriage, the couple farmed most of their lives around the Mazeppa area. Amos died on November 23, 1995 and May moved to Faribault in 2001. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco and later St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. She enjoyed crafts and gardening.
May is survived by one son, Daren (Debby) Whipple, of Stewartville, MN; one daughter, Judy (Rolland) Engle, of Faribault; four grandchildren: Tony Whipple, Myron Engle, Tron Compton-Engle and Dawn Pereda; nine great grandchildren; three sisters: Esther Prokasky, of Neillsville, WI, Phyllis (Frank) Wise, of Rochester and Joan (Walter) Tiedemann, of Mazeppa. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two grandchildren: Troy Whipple and Dan Whipple.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
