Obituary: Maxine C. Kennedy Memorial service for Maxine C. Kennedy will be on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 7:00PM at Bethany United Methodist Church in Rochester with Reverend Dr. Wesley Gabel officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Maxine Kennedy, age 82, of Rochester, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Seasons Hospice. She was born Maxine Claire Vold on January 25, 1924 in Tracy, MN to Peter and Minnie (Abramson) Vold. She attended Wirock Country School, Slayton High School and graduated from Sioux Valley High School before attending Minnesota Business College. Maxine worked for the Green Giant Canning Company in Le Sueur, MN before moving to Sioux Falls, SD where she was a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company. It was here where she met Charles Kennedy. They were married on March 4, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah while Charles was in the military. She returned to SD and lived in Sioux Falls, Garden City, KS and southwest MN where they farmed for a number of years. The couple lived in Worthington, MN and Maxine worked as a legal secretary for the Lavelle?Darling-and Lavelle Law Firm. She retired in 1985 and the couple continued living in Worthington during the summer months and were snowbirds in Texas during the winter months. They moved to Rochester in November of 2003. Maxine was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was very active in ladies groups and church functions. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women?s Association as well as an active member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, needle work, camping and dancing. Maxine is survived by her husband, Charles, and her daughter, Sylvia (Edward) Fishel, all of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren: Rebecca Fishel, of Austin, MN, Mary (David) Lorenz, of Madison, WI, and David Fishel, of Brooklyn, NY. Her parents preceded her in death. Visitation will be Saturday, June 17, 2006 from 6:00PM until time of service at the church.
