Maxine Marie Dahl

Maxine Marie Dahl, age 85, of Red Wing, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Red Wing Healthcare Center. She was born August 27, 1932, in Red Wing, to Earl and Dorothy (James) Kimm and attended Red Wing Central High School and Red Wing Vocational Technical College. In 1950, she married Richard Sutherland and they had 2 sons; they later divorced. She married James W. Griffin and lived in California where they had 4 children; they later divorced. Maxine worked at Armor Star Meatpacking and Dubuque's until 1972, when she moved back to Red Wing. On June 11, 1983 she married Curtis Dahl. She had worked at Casey's, Myron's Hallmark, the Kodak booth, Durkee Atwood, Service Master and was the noon hour/recess lady at Colvill and Hancock Schools. Maxine always loved music-she sang, played the guitar and had been in a band at one time. Michael Jackson was one of her favorite artists and she enjoyed starting her day dancing to his songs. Traveling and going on vacation with her family were always special to Maxine, as was any time spent with her family.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Curtis Dahl of Lake City; children, Rick (Arlene) Sutherland of Eau Claire, WI, Gary (Sandy) Sutherland of Rice Lake, WI, James Griffin, Jr. of North Carolina, Luanna (Wynn) VonBargen of Hager City, WI, Janney (Kelly, Sr.) Johnson of Red Wing, and Ronald "Mike" (Karen) Griffin of Farmington; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; 1 nephew and her dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Byron Harp and sister, Patricia Hoyer.
Memorial service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
