Maxine Carlena Coppe

September 30, 1922 — February 25, 2017

Funeral services for Maxine Coppe will be held Wednesday March 1st at 11:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. The Rev. Paul Bauch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial, at a later time, will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Mrs. Coppe, 94, of Rochester, died Saturday February 25, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester, where she had been receiving care for the past few months.

Maxine Carlena Bernard was born September 30, 1922 near Chatfield in Olmsted County, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy Bernard. Raised on the family farm, she was a graduate of Chatfield High School with the Class of 1940. She went on to junior college for two years, graduated, and then worked for the Mayo Clinic and the Kahler Corporation. She was united in marriage on February 14, 1952 in Rochester to Milton Coppe. She then devoted herself to being a homemaker.

A member of Peace United Church of Christ, she was also a former member of the Rochester Area Shrine Club Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Coppe, of Rochester; a grandson, Chad Sorenson; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Sorenson and Jada Schwingle. Also surviving is her lifelong best friend, Betty French, of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Cynthia Sorenson; a brother, and two sisters.
