Maxine Buck, age 84, formerly of Goodhue, died on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Roseville. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Larry Lindmark officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2006 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Betty Maxine Akers was born on February 7, 1922 in Lewiston, Idaho to Hilbert and Celia (nee Tharaldson) Akers. She grew up in the Starbuck, MN area. On June 28, 1947 she married Burnette B. Buck in Minneapolis. On June 6, 1953 the family moved to Goodhue where Burnette opened Buck?s Garage and Maxine did the bookwork for the business. In addition, Maxine was skilled at sewing and cake decorating and as a part-time occupation decorated cakes and sewed for others. After Burnette?s death in 1994 Maxine started wintering in Mesa, AZ. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer for several years and was active in the ladies aid. She was also a member of the Goodhue Lioness Club. In addition to sewing, other hobbies included walking, swimming, card playing and watching Twins baseball. Maxine is survived by one son, Robert Buck of Shoreview; one daughter, Cheryl Buck of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Alexandra) Buck, Brian (Paige) Buck, David (Sandra) Severin, Debra (Kevin) Maas, and Darla (Reggie) Brown; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Burnette; daughter Sharon Severin; two sisters; and one brother.
