Maxine Brostrom

Maxine Lois Brostrom, 81, Lake City, died Tuesday at her residence. Born April 21, 1926, in Wanamingo, Minn., to Helge and Gitta (Overkill) Johnson, she attended Red Wing Central High School and later the McPhail School of Music. On January 4, 1944, she married Howard Brostrom in Red Wing, Minn. They moved to Lake City in 1945. She was the co-owner of H and M Nursery Sales retiring in 1995. Howard died on June 17, 1998. She was a member at First Lutheran Church where she was on the board, in the choir, sang solos and taught Sunday school and confirmation class. She served on various other boards.

She is survived by four sons, Terry (Gerri) of Frisco, TX, Van (Joni) of Stillwater, MN, Mark (Debra) of Tasmania, Australia, and David (Ronda) of Prior Lake, MN; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Jackson of Fergus Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; son, James Martin; and one brother Harvey Johnson.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Darren Paulson presiding. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Building Fund. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jeff Brostrom, Cari LaCaille, Kim Girardi, Jason Brostrom, Jarryd Brostrom, Jannika Brostrom, Riley Brostrom and Tatum Brostrom.
