Mavis Leona Cass, (nee Cromett), 86, Red Wing, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her residence. She was born November 20, 1924 in Pine River Village in Northern Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Mabel M. (Haugen) Cromett. She was a 1942 graduate of Pine River High School and she was united in marriage to Hubart A. Cass on August 16, 1943 in Pine River. Hubart died September 21, 2006. She was a 50 year employee of First State Bank of Red Wing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, she was an avid boater and reader and she loved her grandchildren and her dogs.
Mavis is survived by her children: Charles A. (Joyce Cass) of Troy, OH and Patty L Johnson of Hastings; grandchildren: Kate (Marcus) Edison and Maggie (Michael Ames) Johnson; great-grandchildren Ronan Cass Edison and Adair Cass Edison; one sister, Doris Young of Minneapolis; and one sister-in-law, Teresa Cromett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubart and one brother, Francis Cromett.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at church.
