Maurice O. Wurst age 86, of Lake City died Saturday July 8, 2006 at the Lake City Nursing Home. Maurice was born May 19, 1920 in Plainview to Clarence & Vivian (LaRock) Wurst. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1940. Maurice joined the Army in 1941 and served during WW II in the European Theater. He was discharged in 1945. He married Elaine Martin on October 1, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. They Lived and farmed in Florence Township in Goodhue County. He retired from farming in 1990 due to health problems. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Frontenac. He served on the Florence Township Board for 20 years, Lake City Lions Club, Frontenac Sportsman Club and he was a Life Member of the Lake City VFW Post 8729. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. Maurice is survived by his wife, three sons, Kenneth (Susan) of Roseville, MN, John (Diane) of Lake City, Allen of Bay City, WI; one daughter, Connie (Al) Settle of Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Bertha (Willard) Neiderhauser of Lake City; one brother Arnold Wurst of Chino, CA. He was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl and Scott; a grandson, Michael Settle; four brothers Robert, Howard, Willis, and Gilbert. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Frontenac with the Rev. Scott Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in St. John?s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Military Rites will be by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.
