Mathilda Buck

Mathilda "Tillie" Buck of rural Mazeppa died on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Zumbrota Health Services. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with Reverend Andy Krause officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mathilda Hofschulte was born on December 9, 1919 in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, MN to Emil and Rose (nee Frank) Hofschulte. She attended country school and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1937. Mathilda worked in a factory in Milwaukee for several years. On May 20, 1950 she married Cyrus Buck at the Grace Lutheran Church parsonage. They farmed in Zumbrota Township until retiring in 1984. They continued to live on the farm. Cyrus died on January 14, 2002 and Mathilda lived on the farm until entering the Zumbrota Health Services in July of 2010. Mathilda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and she enjoyed gardening and yard work. Mathilda is survived by her sister; Marcella Palzer of Lakewood, CA, nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, John (Nancy) Buck of Zumbrota; sisters-in-law, Berdell (Bob) Gadient of Goodhue, Ardell (Roy) Flynn of Red Wing and Joan Moldenhauer of Red Wing. Mathilda was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus; parents; sister, Mildred Welvang; and brothers-in-law, LuVern and Darold Buck.
